Md. Shahin Mia

Dr. Md. Shahin Mia is an International Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). With 20 years of academic and professional experience in Bangladesh and Malaysia, he has developed expertise in digital financial services, fintech, financial inclusion, e-commerce, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and earned his BBS (Hons.) and MBA in Finance and Banking from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Before joining UUM, he served as an Associate Professor at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Bangladesh, and also gained industry experience in a private commercial bank.

Dr. Shahin is widely recognized for his excellence in teaching, consistently receiving top student evaluations at UUM. His research has been published in Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals, and he has been awarded several national and international research grants. In addition to presenting at global conferences, he actively contributes as a scientific committee member for events across Asia and the Middle East. He also plays a key role in academic development through his involvement in curriculum design, quality assurance, MOOCs, and internationalization efforts. Currently, he serves as the International Relations Manager at SEFB, fostering global academic collaborations through MoUs, joint research, and scholarly exchange.
