Abstract

The effect of a high-alumina filler on the physicomechanical properties of ceramic materials was investigated. It is shown that, by controlling the specific surface area of chamotte and the filler content, high-alumina ceramics can be obtained with sufficient mechanical strength and an optimized pore structure. Under these conditions, the fired ceramic or refractory material exhibits maximum mechanical strength and the highest resistance to failure under thermal loading.
